SMS Centre

SMS Centre seems to be causing some odd bugs. I got SMS Centre to work by itself. Then I went to see if it would notify me if a website went down. I checked the path for the exe and it is correct. I tried to get it to alert me by changing the url check to check for something not on the page. It would alert me via the network message and e-mail, but would not send an SMS message. It also stopped checking after that. The graph page says that the website is down due to it failing the check, but it is still green. I tried to stop and restart the service, but it freezes and never stops. In services it says that it is "stopping" and that never changes.

In the event log in Applicatons the Service Control Manager has two errors. One being:

The Taskmanager service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.
The other is:
The Internet Service service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.
Any ideas? Thanks.

You have an entry in the name book of SMS centre and you used that one in the alert settings? Send me via email the conf file so that I can take a look.

Now apparently you are having isssues with other services than ServersCheck (cfr Internet Service).

It might be that ServersCheck is indeed failing to stop because it is having problems in communicating with SMS Centre. A reboot will fix that.

Thanks for your help. I sent the file to you via e-mail. And yes, I have an entry in the name book of SMS centre and have used that in the alert settings. However, leaving all active checks SMS alert fields empty does not appear to fix the problem.

It should be related to the fact that you are using an entry in the phone book composed of a name that includes a space. Imagine you would have as an entry John Smith

SMS Centre looks up John and can't find it (it doesn't take the John Smith). It considers Smith as being the SMS. So you need to either make it JohnSmith or chose another name not including any spaces.
